To be honest, I thought this year’s Super Bowl commercials as a whole were not good. In order for a commercial to be good, in my opinion, it has to stick in my mind. And I find myself only remembering one, maybe two. It seems companies may want to start putting more money into their advertising departments.
Nonetheless, I must pick a favorite. The best commercial was the Doritos commercial with the guy who made a pug run into the door, thinking he would not succeed to get the Doritos. It seems like it will be a mediocre commercial at the beginning, ending with someone getting smooched by a door or something. Not only is it clever, but surprising, and deserves to be called the best Super Bowl commercial this year. It is kind of funny in a sense because it shows what animals will do for food.
The worst commercial, and the one that was very dumb, was the shape-up commercial. They have a gorgeous girl wearing such ugly shoes, that we all know, she does not wear. They make a commercial so sexual for no reason at all. Also, I believe the snickers commercial was very dumb and pointless. No one acts that way when they are hungry, most people turn into savages! I do not think the actors in this video were the right ones for this type of commercial. I do not like the commercial and I feel as if it does not get its point across.
I agree with your statement that the commercials were not very memorable this year as they may have been in the past. I can remember some from years ago and failed to remember any from this past year. I don’t think it has to do with a lack of funding because unnecessary amounts of money are still placed towards these commercials. Instead, I believe it is the lack of ideas that eventually catch up to every business nowadays. We have had decades of creating original pieces, whether it be music, movies, commercials, or television shows. Eventually, I believe original ideas will become slim to none because simply, everything has been done.
I also liked your pick for the Super Bowl commercial about the Doritos and the pig. It did possess comedy; something I think grabs the most attention in a thirty second advertisement. I also agree with your dislike towards the Shape Ups commercial mainly because it is unrealistic. I do not know if the shoes actually work, but you’re right in saying they are ugly. That girl in the commercial most likely wouldn’t wear them, nor does she need them. So, in a way, it was false advertisement. It was only successful because it used the sexual aspect in order to grab the attention of the viewers.

Erin, I agree with what you first say. For a commerical to truly be good, it has to be something people always remember. I can not really say too much about how good they were compared to other years, because I have not always watched the Super bowl and payed attention to all the commericals. But, I believe what you say when you make that statement.
I agree with your favorite/ best pick for the commerical. Dorritos usually comes out with some great and funny commericals. I thought it was funny and cute with the little fat Pug just taking out the door and the boyfriend.
I agree with your choice of the first bad commerical. It did not make sense and was not really memorable. I thought the Snickers one was funny, but your right that people do not really act that way. The commerical itself was funny but lacks actual truth in order to sell their candy. People buy the candy because they like it, not because they are actually starving, they would want real food, not just a candy bar. So, I agree. Greta Job!
